YAMDS – Yet Another MDS

UPDATE: Version 1.1

Too much crap on one screen so updated to tab’d display.

I hope they have something like this in R80.

For those that have hundreds of firewalls, especially if they are changing a lot, will appreciate this. I got sick of clicking all over the place to find all my GUIs, so I decided to create my own ‘single glass centralized security management station’. Sound familiar???? YAMDS.

This baby will automatically kick off all your major applications required to manage a CP environment and in addition you can keep notes on the status of all your firewalls so your team knows what state they are in ‘SYSTEM STATUS’. The fields are sortable and you can do dynamic searches to filter down the ones you want.

This firewall database is constantly synced with MDS database so I always have the latest list of firewalls (you are obviously looking at a dummy database). Also in the background I have integrated the MDS database into our asset management, DNS, Cattools scripting and ticket tracking so we feed them the most accurate accurate list of firewalls and their IP and statuses.

Although its version 1 and my first crack at HTML, css, SQL, javascript, php …holy cabolies…This has so simplified my life immensely. At some point I will release the code…right now its tooo embarrassing.

Next I’m working on pulling in our other SSH type devices and allowing more customization of applications to spawn.

Life Stories from Dreez

These are stories from my travels. Generally I like to write stories about local people that I meet and also brag about living the retirement dream with my #1 wife Gaby. She is also my only wife.
